Is this safe?

Should I not be drinking out of this any more? Friends, please help me. Did I miss the memo that plastic nalgenes are toxic? No one ever drinks from these. And if so, what should I drink from? I am currently drinking 64oz of water a day from this plastic bottle. I beg you, leave a comment with an answer - I don't trust google.

Nalgene makes BPA-free bottles now, or you could avoid plastic altogether and go with stainless steel like Kleen Kanteen.

I agree. I bought a Nalgene that is BPA free. It will say it on the label. The BPA is the problem, so now that they make water bottles without it, you're good to go if you get one! Also, if you're concerned about BPA, you should make sure your tupperware is BPA free. It also says it on the boxes. I found out when you heat up tupperware with BPA, it's NOT good, so Ryan and I replaced ours at Target.

I'm pretty sure BPA is only a problem when you heat it up, and even then, only in large quantities. So if you're not filling your Nalgene with hot liquid or leaving it in your car on sweltering days, you're fine. And like Michelle said, just don't heat up food in your Tupperware.

I still have my YL Nalgene from a million years ago and I'm totally not worried about it.

Depends on how old your Nalgene is. I bought myself one of these http://www.lifefactory.com/adults.html?gclid=CLXqoOuBoqcCFRN-5QodTTS9bg Google yourself a promo code and score one for less than the full price. I've been thoroughly satisfied with mine and have no qualms about running it through this dishwasher. I've tried insulated water bottles with no satisfaction.

I'd be more concerned about the containers you're using to store & reheat leftovers from meals...

It's true. BpA hasn't been proven to be harmful in adults, but in babies, especially incubating ones, it might mess with development IF large quantities are absorbed. I would replace the bottle if it's old, just to be safe. I replaced my nalgene with a new, BpA-free one (they're all BpA free if made in the last couple years) when I got knocked up. I also got glass containers with plastic lids, so I could reheat in the microwave and dishwasher. They were a great deal at Costco. I'm sure you're fine if you don't do those things, but I was paranoid.

Thanks Everyone! Seriously. I threw away the old nalgene and have yet to buy a newer one but that will happen soon. It's nerve wracking thinking about all the do's and don'ts of baby growing. Thanks again!
