Why haven't you told me?

I am so boring! My life hasn't changed a bit since I started this blog. I went back and read what I was writing about over the last 3 years and it's all the same. Despair. Are the 20's this boring for everyone?!

Our Sweet Noah

This past week makes a whole month that he's been in the hospital. The doctors can't seem to figure out what's going on with his heart. Finally, today they are going to put in a heart defibrillator. Hopefully Noah and his family will finally get to come home after a tumultuous August. As you read this, please pray for peace for the family and for complete healing for our sweet Noah.

Bridal Portraits

Who says you can't take bridal portraits three years later? When your BFF is a photographer, the benefits are endless. She also did my hair and make-up - she's a woman of many, many talents. Here are a few of my favorite shots:

Tragedy

A tragedy is when the battery in the smoke alarm over your bed dies and you've been asleep for hours. Your husband's dreams have incorporated the ear piercing beep into them and fail to wake either one of you at first. Then you wake up and in your zombie-like state try and figure out what's wrong by reading the tiny smoke detector words in the dark. You've stood on a bench to reach the demon but realize you are 6 inches too short. Dragging a chair up a flight of stairs doesn't help because taking the battery out doesn't stop the beep. Yanking the entire gremlin off the ceiling and burying it under a couch pillow takes care of it. Sleep just isn't the same after that.

Guess where we were?

Another wedding! Michael's high school buddy, Doug got married last weekend to his new bride, Sarah. The wedding was in Columbia, Maryland at Doug's uncle's restaurant. Must say, the crab meat was heavenly!

We threw rose petals at the couple when they left the reception

Apparently Michael has never held real rose petals before. Soft aren't they?

Bye bye, off to Aruba. Lucky ducks.

Baby in a corner

This made me laugh. He was all by himself for a while.

I've got nothing. No updates. Other than that my husband's blog is really good. You should check it out. It's that "Truth and Common Sense" one over to your right.

My string of weddings is really picking up now. I sat at my computer for 8 straight hours today (not a single peek at facebook!) and I still don't have everything done. I will be all across VA pretty soon - weddings in Arlington, Orange, Richmond, and Charlottesville. Then comes the winter. I already have a list of Christmas ideas. What? It's August?! Oh.

I think for fun tonight Michael and I are going to visit Whole Foods and then come back and watch the Bachelor Pad.

Social Networking Spell Check

Ok some help here please:

Yay vs. Yeah

I've always thought that "Yay" is how you spell the verbal emotion for excitement/ joy/ happiness. Ex: "Yay! I got a latte!"

I've always thought that "Yeah" is how you spell the verbal positive agreement such as, "Yeah, I guess you are right." I've thought it a short hand for "yes".

But sometimes I see people say, "Yeah! I got the job!" or "We went to church! Yeah!" And I think that it is funny because they are not saying "yay"?

Does this make sense? If it does, what it the correct usage of each? I don't want to be made fun of for misusing "yeah."

Pedi Quickie No No

I read in a magazine that it was OK to only paint your first 2 toes if you are going to be wearing peep-toe shoes. That is so weird. Would anyone really waste all that energy bending over just to paint two (well, four out of ten) toes?! I can't think of any reason to do that other than laziness. It doesn't take much time to paint a toe nail. If your toes are anything like mine, it takes maybe a brush and a half to cover the nail with paint. Don't worry about a double coat if you are so pained by having to go all the way and paint ten. Your feet will be much cuter with paint on all your toes.

Dream Weekend

Last weekend we got away from normal life and spent time with best friends soaking up some sun. If you read The Andrews blog, my thoughts are the exact same. It was pure delight. Though we live hours away and hadn't seen each other in months, it felt like second nature just to kick back and relax with them. Marta and Le-a were able to let our hip-hop and R&B sides come out and no one stood in our way. Los Dos are looking forward to next years' get-away already!!!

We sailed to Baycreek in Cape Charles, VA

We caught up on our lives and the lives of the famous from this spot:

The weather took a break from the heat and humidity offering us a perfect weekend.

Beautiful sunsets each night as we turned dinner into a 3 hour event

Full, happy and ready to get our Monopoly game on!

Love them
Michael sat out front for a little bit but came in when the waves started splashing him.

Cape Charles

This past weekend was one of our most favorite weekends ever. We spent it with the Andrews and I will blog more about that later -but Ava is napping and I'm sure she will wake up as soon as I begin. For now, here are some gorgeous scenery shots from the weekend. Michael is learning to be a snazzy photographer.

You learn something new every day

Listening to hot100.5 playing a song by Bobby Brackins called 143:

Me: I wonder if '143' was that girl's speed dial on his cell phone?
Mike: 143? That's I Love You.
Me Oh.
