Charm-Ville

Page 265 of the April 2010 issue of Real Simple magazine. That's where we're going folks. I was flipping through the recipes for the 100th time and noticed an add about Alexandria. We are getting really excited as the countdown to the move has reached t-10 days! Cville to Charmville. I'll take it.

Amanda's Bridal Shower

Last weekend the bridesmaids hosted Amanda's bridal shower at Shelf Life in Old Town Warrenton. It was a beautiful, delightful evening. Margaret Long and Bob Moore catered the event with their delicious chef inspired creations. The night was a blast and it was so refreshing to spend time with some of my favorite people in the whole entire world!

Speaking of cake

Proof that we got married and had cake. This is the last remnant of our wedding day. It's nearly 3 years old but I just can't part with it. It just minds it's own business in our freezer, doesn't hurt right? I'm afraid some friends of mine are going to come "help me pack" and then really throw out this cake. It will never go away...Mwahahaha...

Lavender and Sweet Cream

Here it is folks, the beauty and perfection that is lavender cake with sweet cream icing. Happy Birthday to me. I tasted this cake at a wedding I was working back in January and then hired the baker to make it for me this week. Rachel De Jong is the talented mastermind behind this tasty creation. Her website isn't up yet, but I will post it as soon as it is.

Brianna shares her birthday with St. Patrick's Day and it is always so fun. (Won't she have the best 21st birthday ever?!) I drove home to, well, get my hair done, but most importantly celebrate with my 8 year old sister! We gave her our presents, sang to her, blew out the candles, then headed to her choice dinner, Olive Garden. Our waiter was a sweet little Indian man, Raz...the picture below just might be my favorite ever:

Brianna was a doll and it has turned out to be so much fun practically sharing birthdays. Saturday we drive home again to go to the birthday party hosted by Michael's craft store. Fun times indeed.

What a mess

So it begins. Boxes compliments of campbellcrazies. I am having dreams of all my teeth falling out. Perhaps I'm stressed?

Reason #78

I just found out that there are 4 farmer's markets for me to choose from in Alexandria! I can't wait to start shopping at them on the weekends. I grew up going to the farmer's market with my mom (who still shops at it on a regular basis) so it has a special place in my heart. I'm excited for the fresh, local produce, fresh baked goods, and fresh flowers to abound in our household! I'm going to try, anyways...

Mufasa

The other day in church one of my husband's students pointed at me and loudly told his buddy, "She has lion hair." Well you know what, he is right. I can't argue with that, although, he himself has a nice weave full of braids. Thank God this lioness finally has a hair appointment next week!!!

Not like a booty call

Life is busy right now, but that's alright. I tend to prefer life on the busier side - something to do, places to go, people to see. However, considering these are our last 4 weeks in this town, I want my time to be spent celebrating life with people here. If you live near me, please don't hesitate to call me to hang out, go out for coffee, run to the grocery store together, cook a meal with me, play a board game, walk in the park, go to the gym together, and on and on. I will miss you all terribly and it will be hard to do those things once we're in Alexandria. I will always have time for my friends. The end.

I won't do this often, I promise

I'm singing during the ceremony of my friend's wedding in April. She gave me a cd of the songs so I've been listening to them while I drive in order to learn my song. This is not the one, but I have come to love these lyrics. I've heard it before but have always ignored it on the Christian radio station because it is SO bad. But this one is good:
Love is not a place to come and go as we please
It's a house we enter in
Then commit to never leave
So lock the door behind you
Throw away the key
We'll work it out together let it bring us to our knees

Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is a peace in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door
Love's not a fight but it's something worth fighting for

TP

The only toilet paper I'm allowed to buy is Charmin Ultra Soft. Maybe I should have stock in it.

New Cards

My new business cards have arrived! I love them. And I love my designer. This photo hardly does them justice but they look official and no one else in the world has them. Now I really can't change my phone number.

We Are Moving!!!

That's right! Los Dos are turning a new page and leaving Charlottesville. After three years of debating whether or not to move, our time has come. Michael, my impressively talented husband, got a new job that will take us to Alexandria, Virginia. There have been many ups and downs leading to this move, but we know this is right where God wants us. Through doors opening and closing, we are moving into a rental townhome in Alexandria come early April. It is bittersweet for us to say goodbye to Charlottesville. We love all our friends and church family here so much. This is where Michael and I have grown together as a married couple and started our new life together. Here, we are known as "The Dauberts." We have set down roots, established routines, have bible studies and community groups and social networks, coach high school sports, have alumni status at the university, have favorite local restaurants, favorite coffee shops, and we know every possible driving route in town. We are young but influential members in our community and will surely miss the comfort of all these things. I know I will be getting really sentimental soon and start crying every time I realize I will be having a "last" of something here. For now, I am really excited to be moving to the DC area and am ready to begin a whole new chapter in la vida de Los Daubertos!
