A Note to all Wives

In the spirit of helping a sister out (or should I say "brother"), I urge you to groom your man's eyebrows. Teach him while he is young. Convince him that facial landscaping is not just for women.

Have you ever run into that older man/acquaintance with stray eyebrows that protrude nearly two inches off of his forehead and point in all different directions and he tries to have a conversation with you about your family but you really can't even listen to the words coming out of his mouth because all you are thinking is "get those nasty eyebrows away from me!"?

Or gone to see your grandparents but quickly realize your grandfather seems to have left is nose/ear/eyebrow clippers back in the 70's?

Or worse, see a handsome young man who has it all together but then suddenly he shifts his head and you see eyebrows pointing away from the natural hairline and threatening to fall off into your coffee cup?

Yuck. I can barely think about it.

Help them ladies! There is nothing wrong with brushing the eyebrows every now and then. Kindly take your tweezers and pluck those crooked suckers right outta that head. Make him aware that it is not about him and whether or not he is being vain....it's about everyone else who has to look at him!!! Renegade eyebrow hairs are a distraction to the human race and should be forbidden. Most of us women love a good hair to tweeze - it's fun to clean 'em up! Is this just me? Am I crazy? If so, still, please do it just for me.

Crafty updates

I'm so proud of us for making our own wall art. We can't sew in this house but we can staple! I am slowly but surely adding more colors to our bedroom to brighten things up. The Crate and Barrel outlet in Old Town offers tons of fabrics at discounted prices so I grabbed a few yards of this blue one, bought some wood frames from Michaels, and stapled the fabric onto the frames. There is a good deal of left over fabric that I just might kindly beg my BFF to make into small pillows for me. (If I don't wear her out before that - see post below.) I bought this peacock blue throw from CB with some Christmas money and things are already looking more tropical.

(I know these are crooked, I fixed them after I took the pic.)

What do you think Amanda?

New look

This girl made me these from San Diego and I love them!

Last week of 2010

We spent the last week of 2010 at Sunset Beach with Michael's extended family. It was great to be with the cousins (who I love and adore so much, it's like they're my blood relatives.) The weather warmed up to the 60's for us so we got to spend a lot of time outside. New Year's Eve we ate delicious seafood and saw fireworks down in Myrtle Beach.

Love you Thores, Jones and Logans!!

National Harbor - the Gaylord

The Gaylord Hotel is so pretty at Christmas time. They even have fake snowfalls inside! Some of us also spent some time running around the harbor and eating things. Can you tell where all we went?

First stop on the Party Bus

The National Christmas Tree
There were so many tourists it was hard to get around to seeing all 50 state trees.
The old fashion remote control trains were so cute! They had tons of displays set up all around the Christmas tree and little trains whirling around the tracks. We watched Marine One practice their landings and lift-offs on the White House front lawn. We got a little excited the first time they did it but then it came back nearly five times during our short visit. It made for a noisy and windy Christmas Tree gazing. You can see it sitting on the lawn in this pic:
Some of the federal buildings actually decorate for Christmas and are really pretty!

Family Party Bus

On December 23rd, my parents took us all out for a night in DC....on a party bus. It turned out to be really fun. We had some neighbors, family friends, and relatives join us to help fill in the seating. I'd love to do it again sometime! It was nice to go into the city and not worry about parking.

Our stylish ride:

My mom took this picture and I think it's so funny. I just happened to be carrying those bottles on the bus. Everyone wanted them, not just me.

Getting comfortable:

Cool people in the way back:

The girls and their "Bittys:"
I'll put up more pics of the night in a little bit!
