Brothers

David and Michael are brothers. They also have an older brother but he was not there. I think pictures can tell it all sometimes.

Just trying to get a simple pictures guys, c'mon....like I keep saying, they can never be serious together. :)

What are they watching?

Oh this is what they are watching!

It's fun to be part of a family with lots of boys.

Marriage

An excerpt from our exchange the other day in the car:

Me: (After having thought about it for a really long time, I slowly, awkwardly begin) You know, I've been thinking about something....I think it's time that we start.....(I giggle a little)
Michael: Huh?
Me: I really, in all honesty, think it's time to...(I'm not trying to drag this out, but I can't help myself from laughing.)
Michael: Yeeeess?
Me: I really think it's time for us to start refrigerating our Smart Balance!
Michael: What on earth?
Me: No seriously, I've been feeling sick after eating it lately and after all it does say in bold caps on the back KEEP REFRIGERATED. It's suppose to soften quickly. I think it's time we start.
Michael: Well, ok, I guess we can give it a shot. I'll see if I like it.
Me: Ok good. Thanks.

Beisbol de Portico is soft

Monday night kicked off the first of a bunch of softball games. The Portico Oneders were awesome despite losing both games of their double header. It was close. Ask Lindsay because she kept score.

Nathaniel sporting the pitcher's mound and Rob catching in action:
Like I said, Lindsay kept track of everything - play by play:

Nick not so sweet n' Sauer on deck maybe?

Those men are a little sweaty....

The Beautiful Jess and Michelle: (There were actually a lot of supportive wives and girlfriends but I failed at getting those pics)

The good-looking Team Mom of game #1 Gatorade for all:

Good game, good game, good game:

My sweaty but talented husband, with a cupcake to celebrate:

Come out on Monday nights and you can catch all the action for yourself!

Some gentle observations

Charlottesville, when you drive on the 250 Bypass heading east or west, please drive at least the speed limit. 5 mph over would even be better! There is no harm in going 60 mph in a 55 zone - especially if you drive in the left lane. You're "driving" me crazy.

Smart Cars of Cville - Why are there so many of you? I've seen blue ones, black ones, yellow ones, even a convertible smart car! You're cute and Europe loves you, but don't be crying when you run through a red light and get hit by a Suburban.

To the mom who goes for her morning jog on Park Street between 8:30 - 9:00 am with her newborn and toddler in car seats inside the stroller: Please, for the safety of yourself, your babies, and the drivers around you, pick a different time of day to jog. OR change your route. Park Street crossing over 25o is one of the busiest and messiest places to be at those hours of the day. You look great, keep up the jogging, but you are scaring every one around you by plowing into the streets with that monstrous stroller.

Most Delightful Weekend

Our weekend was wonderful. It started off with me not having to go nanny the little boy Friday morning which led to sleeping in, a good workout, and bread baking. Zucchini was still super cheap at the g-store - so of course - bake zucchini bread! I had never made it before, but y'all, it was so stinkin' tasty when it came right out of the oven. You should ask for the recipe.

Oh and those cookies right next to the fresh baked bread are just some fabulous peanut butter cookies that I whipped up from scratch the other night. No big deal.

Friday afternoon, Michael and I headed to Virginia Beach to spend some time with our beloved friends, the Andrews. I failed at photo documenting all the wonderful things we did together, but check out her blog for some more cute pics. We could not have had a better time! Everything we did was a blast and it was so good to catch up. Parks, their 9-month old boy, is adorable. Michael and I just can't help but love him! We left their home on Sunday thinking, "That was such a great time! Can we do it all over again?" Andrews, we miss you guys like crazy. Michael also thinks he could get used to living on the coast - surfing looks very attractive to him. Here's the only picture I took - look how cute they both are :)

Keep all your toes

I was in the salon today and the woman working there was telling me that there's a lady who, more than once, has come in for a pedicure but due to diabetes she has lost a few toes. (I didn't know that was a side effect.) But because of that she asks for a discount on her pedicure!!!! I started cracking up. Not at the loss of her toes but at the thought of a discounted pedicure for 7 toes instead of 10! I can understand a discount if you're missing a whole leg, but come on, a pedicure is for the whole foot not just the toes. Hysterical.

Shania

I am a huge fan of Shania Twain. Always have been always will be. I heard that she is guest judging at some point on the next season of American Idol. Someone please help me remember to watch it! I don't normally follow American Idol, but Shania's my singing Idol so of course I'll watch it for her. Also I just checked out her website, www.shaniatwain.com, and her birthday is next week and she'll be posting something for all her fans. I wonder what it will be? A new baby? A new song? A new hairdo? I can't wait. She's so cute....did anyone know that her birth name was Eileen but she changed it to Shania when she was adopted later on in life?

Behind the name

My name is Megan Beth (not Elizabeth. My mom's twin sis is Beth)

Megan means: Great, Pearl -of great value, soft and gentle
Beth means: Worshiper of God

So Megan Beth - Great worshiper of God, how cool is that? I wonder if my parents knew I'd love to worship through song?

What does your name mean? Check it out:

Basil

The best smell of summer is basil. I could practically carry it around in my purse. Today marks the third day in a row of eating tomato, basil, mozzarella for lunch.

For those of us who don't yet grow our own, Whole Foods has fresh local basil for sale at $1.99 for a bunch! Treat yourself.

Hey faithfuls, want to add another blog to your daily checklist? I am getting one up and started in conjunction with my wedding business. It's all about weddings! (I know there are some of you who are still enthralled with the wedding world.) It's fun. Check it out, add it to your list if you like it, comment if you feel led. I'm happy about it.

Milk

It used to be all skim milk for me baby. Now that it's summer, I've more often than not been getting iced lattes. An iced latte with skim milk is just not good enough. I realized this when I would go home or at the coffee bar at church or, worse, at the coffee shop itself - add half and half to my skinny latte. Pointless to get skim I realize.

The difference between 2%/whole milk and skim is really not nutritionally significant. So I've switched this summer. Sometimes I order "a tall iced latte with fat fatty milk please." No one has looked at me funny. Usually they give me a smile and say, "that's the way to do it." Maybe in the winter I will go back to skim milk in my hot lattes since the warm milk seems a bit creamier any way. Possibly not. If you've concerned yourself with my milk drinking habits by reading this info, than I consider you a good friend. Thanks for caring!

From my heart to yours

My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,

for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you prosperity.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.

Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3: 1-6

I just love this because it is so true. Trust in the Lord. He is good and desires to show you how He will make your path straight when you TRUST Him!

I thought this was cute

This little picture was drawn on the chalkboard wall of a booth at the new Shenandoah Joe's. I can just picture me and Jenny standing on a hill cheering "Yay! Coffee! Yay!" Coffee brings me joy.

Hard Working

I sent a resume to Coach this morning. I heard they are opening up a store in our huge, local mall. I could use another part-time job. However, I doubt they'll get back to me. No one wants to hire part-time employees. And I'd probably have to work on weekends.

Let's just be honest, I really just want to get discounted bags. Especially the diaper bag for future use. Is that ok?

Crime

Our tomatoes are gone. Michael stepped outside for his morning run only to discover one of the biggest disappointments ever. Tom and Tina tipped over and every single green and orange tomato GONE! None had turned red yet but there were so many growing steady and strong. We had so many recipes waiting for those tomatoes, we had lists of people to bring our homegrown tomatoes to because there were so many, and we just were so stinkin' proud of ourselves for growing them!

We are heartbroken. If it wasn't a tomato rapture, then it was either a neighbor or a nasty, good for nothing animal. I immediately thought of a person, Michael a deer. And so help me if it was a deer - I would love to personally hunt down and shoot that deer. If you own a hunting rifle, I lovingly invite you to come sit on our front porch and wait for your prey. Deer are stupid and only cause car accidents. Bambi is cute but he eats tomatoes too. Maybe it was that peacock.

And besides we live in a neighborhood, in a townhome community, on the main road!!! We didn't think deer would be an issue?! Tom and Tina are still doing Ok, they will produce more tomatoes, but now we will be paranoid about them. Huckleberry and Finn are goners. Poor plants, poor us! I feel very bad for Michael because he took such good care of them all. Watering them all the time, giving them tomato food and resoiling the pots. He will be such a good father. But until then, we allowed our children to be eaten.

Sams

I meant to buy a vegetable tray. For my health. But instead, I bought a cheese tray.
