Latin Dance...

Kicked my butt this morning. I have never felt like the worst dancer in a group before, but now I have experienced it. And it's awful.

I tried out this class called Latin Dance Mix taught by Leo. Thinking it would be a small group since it was 10:30am on a Tuesday morning, I walked in with dancer's confidence in my spandex and electric blue portico women's fit tee. Wrong, wrong and wrong. There were at least 50 people in the dance room. I didn't count exactly because I was too embarrassed to look around. It was as if I walked into Oprah's book club meeting where everyone knows each other and was ready to burst into the book they knew all about. Then a fashionably late Mr. Latino walks in and begins the music and immediately the group begins to bust out this sexy combo. I was shocked. You should've seen me try to copy the instructor, I was always a step behind or waving my left hand when it should have been my right. It's a good thing I am a dancer with some training, I don't know how someone without it could manage. As the hour went on, I got better and felt a bit more confident. I enjoyed it, until Leo would change the dance move just as I gained momentum and continued to jump while everyone was merengue-ing low to the floor.

We got a fantastic workout and, very humbled, I will return. I will have to work on bringing my jazzy, precise execution down a few notches to a more spicy latino flow. Anyone care to join me?

Eye Candy

Can't wait to share Heather's wedding pics with you all!!! We are having a blast at the beach. In between Heather's wedding, family visiting, buying a new car, traveling to the beach, and finishing up June weddings, a baby niece and waiting for Lisa's baby time has been flying by. I'm being a good girl and generously applying SPF 30 multiple times a day. No skin cancer and wrinkles for me. The beach is so relaxing....I'm going back now....

Tirzah

Tirzah Daubert was born yesterday! 7lbs 10oz and 21 inches long. She is so precious! I just arrived home from a visit to see her and just can't get enough. Gabrielle, my sweet sister-in-law, had an all-natural home birth. She's such a trooper, sounds like it was a ton of pain. BUT baby is here and happy and healthy! Tirzah is simply a precious little nugget. We love you baby girl!

My Little Pony

It's hard to believe our time together has come to an end. I'm crying right now. Tears of good memories and love.

From the day I found out you were mine on my Sweet 16th (in the hospital room at sissy Brianna's birth)
to my first joy ride around Osbourn High School
to the first set of wheels that Ashleigh and I got to drive around in together
to my one and only speeding ticket
to my first car accident when that mean old lady hit you from behind
to the countless drives to the beach
to our first year at college together
to all the men who whistled and honked at us
to the time a teradactyl pooped on you and wouldn't come off so it ruined your paint
to my marriage to Michael and the transfer of the title to my name
to the many years spent parking on mountains in Cville (I'm sorry brakes!)
and finally from the move to Alexandria, You have been the best car I have ever had. I feel like I'm letting go of part of my identity. But indeed I am not because my identity is not, in fact, placed in the car I've been driving. It's in Christ. Just to put that out there. Now back to your remembrance...

You've kept me safe for years. You've gotten me across the country and to everything I've ever need to get to. You are a dream come true. Someone else will love you and cherish you now, but not as much as me, so if you need to come running back to me, please do, but not in the form of a return and wanting the money back. I'm sure you'll find lost strands of my long hair deep in the crevasses of your seats and glitter from my sparkly dresses stuck to the carpet . Remember me when you find them.

Fergie said it best, I will be living my glamorous life sipping and reminiscing about the days when I had a Mustang.
I will always love you and have a very special place in my heart for Mustangs. Especially you.

Tiny Dancer

I'm so proud of Brianna. Her recital was this past weekend and I got to attend for the first time. (One of the many benefits of being so close to family!!!!) She really is an awesome dancer! She was smaller, younger and better then most everyone in her classes. Believe me, I know that girl can move. We are waiting to bust it out on the dance floor together at Heather's wedding.

Great job little missy!

Kennedy Center Dinner

For our 3 year anniversary, Michael treated us to dinner at the Kennedy Center Terrace Restaurant. It was wonderful. We got to catch the end of a live jazz concert as well. We love being close to DC. Given the traffic, we allowed nearly an hour to get there....but ended up laughing at ourselves because we were parked in the Kennedy Center garage within 15 minutes of leaving our home. Our extra 40 minutes allowed us to talk around, take some pictures and watch planes fly overhead. :)

Celebrating our anniversary will be extended through the summer as we join some of our dearest friends for a little cruise on the Atlantic. (Can't wait Marta!)We love to celebrate things. Or maybe just have fun under the pretense of "celebrating a birthday, anniversary, etc."

The Vernons

Finally. They got married.

It was incredible to see a marriage and an adoption essentially happening at the same time. Carolyn and Travis are good friends of ours and Mike and I have been privileged to watch them grow closer to God and each other over the past 3 years. We fell in love with Carolyn's tiny daughter the day we met her and I even had the chance to be her preschool teacher last year. Now Sara is going into kindergarten and runs around telling everyone of her Dad. I love it. Mike was a groomsmen and I was a reader - I must say I did a fantastic job. For all you old community groupies, my reading of scripture was flawless. I shocked myself. Ask Michael, it's true.

Chris Atwell did an amazing job marrying them.

Little Miss Sara Mae
Fun color combo!
She was waving at me
And running to me, I think she likes me.

Heather's Shower

Last Friday night the Lord answered our prayers and the rain held off! We enjoyed such a beautiful time together celebrating Heather's fast approaching marriage. I am really happy with the way the party turned out! I had the vision in my head the whole time and it was so fun to see it actually happen. I could just plan parties all day long...
