Saturday morning treasures

This a.m. we headed out to the yard sales. Yes, the yard sales. We were the youngest shoppers around. However, Michael happened to find a few little things:
Krups Espresso Maker $5
Records - Billy Joel, Benny Goodman, USA symphonic band, Big Band Memories. Why you ask? I have no idea. We don't have a record player. Maybe because they were 25 cents each.
Un-opened Halmark decorative paper $0.50

Then we went to the Farmer's Market where we purchased 4 donuts, 2 iced coffees, 2 cantalopes, peaches, garlic, and a sausage.

We felt very satisfied with ourselves this morning.

Me, You and the Dance Floor

Down with the Dauberts Update:

Michael went back to Charlotttesville High School on Monday to begin classroom preparation. He will coach wrestling in the winter and possibly JV football this fall. He is excited because he gets his own classroom this year. Mikey-poo worked construction during the summer and is really tan.

I am teaching preschool, exact title is associate teacher, Monday-Friday and this starts in September. I will also continue to work at Ethan Allen three afternoons a week all the while trying to grow my personal wedding planning business! I honestly don't think I will be that busy despite the multiple personalities.

Latest Purchase: a couch. But you know that.

Next Vacation: Oklahoma over Christmas break

Extra Curricular Activities: Portico (our fabulous church), UVA footbal games and selling parking spaces, I would like to add dancing to this list somehow

Aspirations: Michael - to have his own construction company for a while, to buy a scooter, to get back to Spain. Megan - to be a wedding coordinator, sing as much as I can, to get back to the Caribbean.

I love Michael Jackson and Chris Brown.

Peach Cobbler

1/2 C. Margarine
1 C. flour
1 C. sugar
1/8 t. salt
1 t. baking powder
3/4 C. milk
2 1/2 C. fruit, sweetened to taste

Melt margarine in 8"x8" pan. Sift flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Add milk slowly to make paste. Pour over margarine. Add fruit (you can use peaches, strawberries, blueberries, whatever) but do not stir. Bake 40 minutes at 425 degrees.

This is such an easy dessert to make. It's so easy but I've never made it before, I've just eaten it. It's a bread-like cobbler. Yummy summer.

A place to sit

We finally bought a couch! Prior to this summer, we had been borrowing John and Gabrielle's sofa and chair until they got married. Well, they got married... so we had no living room. Michael and I thought we would be fine for a few months without a couch but were quickly proven wrong when our behinds started to hurt after sitting through 30 minutes of America's Funniest Home Videos. Then one night we had 10 people in our house and we were all sitting on the floor. LAME.

We made our way down to the local Grand Furniture store for the Christmas in July sale. The nice, but completely sketchy salesman Barry greeted us with 2 refreshing bottles of coke-a-cola. It must have been the coke that put us in a good mood because we liked the very first couch we saw. Sectional - done! Micro-fiber-done! Neutral color - done! Does it fit- Who knows? SOLD. Our first major household purchase as husband and wife.

So there it is. Come over and sit on it with us, it's sooo comfy!

"Happy 2nd!"

Happy 2nd Michael! Married for 1 year and 2 months now. I love you!

We celebrate Happy 2nd's every month because we got married on June 2. Who doesn't love a reason to celebrate? Uncle Chris and Aunt Becca passed down the tradition to us - celebrate your wedding anniversary number. Sometimes its a bouquet of flowers, maybe a favorite dessert, or a dinner out. Sometimes it is simply a contest to see who can say "Happy 2nd" first, but I don't think thats as romantic because it fosters a sense of competitiveness and lets the other spouse down when they don't "win." All in all it's a fun chance to reflect on our marriage, we love to celebrate Happy 2nds.

Job seeaarrch

Back in the arena again. I have little job, but is it even part time?! What should I do? Should I work in retail, should I be a cashier at a Pet store, should I babysit, should I be a secretary? No no no. I have been cleaning out things in my house this morning (note that I'm not at work) and I found my pile of cards from graduation. I read them all again...of course. One stuck out to me that read, "Life Lesson No. 15 - Do what you love... It's what the world needs from you...it's what you were meant to do."

Whaaaa! I found myself talking back to that card, "I know! I know! But how can I do that?!" Helpless. So do what I love huh? That narrows it down to being a famous singer, a secret FBI agent, a dolphin trainer, a hip hop back-up dancer, a hair model or a wedding planner. All different directions, all things I love. Which one of those careers is what the world needs from me? Which one was I meant to do? Which one will pay me.....ah, there's the question.

I would love to do what I love.
