The end of another decade y'all. The end of a decade. Remember what you did for 1999 going into Y2K? We were out in Oklahoma celebrating Worthley style. That was awesome. I was about to meet Michael too, one year after that we were dating. A lot has happened in the past 10 years, but I really feel like 1999 was last week. I'm excited for 2010! Some really good things are about to happen. I wonder if I'll still be blogging in 2019? Yikes. No huge plans tonight. I'm waiting for my black-tie event with balloons falling on my head and dancing the night away to a live band. Maybe next year, right? I'm thinking 2010 is going to be better than 2009. I can't wait!

Cosmic Christmas
I read Max Lucado's "Cosmic Christmas" yesterday and loved it. You should pick it up if you haven't yet. Clearly fictional but at the same time, the spiritual speculation seems right on. Imagining the spiritual realm of the First Christmas makes the reason for celebrating Christmas so awesome. It gives more meaning to the same Christmas carols we sing every year. At our Christmas Eve service, there were some songs that I could barely choke out, "Glory to the Newborn King." I imagine the thousands of angels singing praises to God and I get chills. I can't wait until we get to be part of that!
Joy Williams released this awesome song a few years ago and every time I hear it, my heart melts. My friend posted this song as well, but just in case you missed it - Here With Us.

Snow Day #1
Michael and I drove up to Manassas to get snowed in. We debated where we'd rather have to spend the weekend and "home" won out over Cville. Here are some fun shots of our snowy day.
This is last night - 2 hours after the snow started falling
This morning after brunch all of us put on our snow gear and played outside. This looks like my siblings and I are very sweet but this was taken after an all out wrestling race to the swing set to see who could get down the snow-covered slide first.
Michael, Preston and Dad started the first round of shoveling

Community Group Christmas
Last week we hosted our Community Group Christmas party. It was full of beautiful people, good food and lots of laughter. We love our friends in Cville!
Here's Miss Amanda in the kitchen tending to the meatballs
We played the Dirty Santa version of White Elephant.

Early Christmas Present
Michael got me 500 text messages and free mobile to mobile texting! Now I can freely message any one of my Verizon (the best) user friends. Exciting isn't it? Oh the joys of early marriage budgeting.

Go Vikings!
My dad took Preston to the Vikings game this past weekend for his 16th Birthday. They flew to Minnesota on Friday and hung around till game day yesterday afternoon. Here they are on whatever channel it was on yesterday (Fox, ABC, ESPN I don't know). They obviously had second row seats - super close to the field. My dad's the one looking like Where's Waldo and Preston's off screen at this point. It sounded like so much fun. To be honest, I'm a little jealous. (I'd love to go to a Cowboys game!!!!) I was so excited for my dad and brother -they're die hard fans. My family has a Vikings wall shrine in their newly remodeled basement. Awesome.

My mind is all over the place
Christmas festivities are picking up and so are my wedding to-dos believe it or not! I am getting ready for the lovely Batten-Baker wedding on January 9th and I recently picked up another wedding on January 2nd. We get to spend a good amount of time at home with our families before I return to Cville to hit the ground running as a wedding coordinator.
Do we all have Christmas carols stuck in our heads this time of year? I can't get "Have yourself a merry little Christmas" out of mine. I just finished wrapping all our Christmas gifts and they look picture perfect under the tree. It's a shame all that gorgeous paper gets ripped off and thrown away. This coming week is marked by a dinner and movie date with friends, wedding dress shopping for Heather, Michael flying to NYC, serving at PACEM and a big Christmas dinner at Maggianos. Joyful times indeed.

Glory to the Newborn King We need a little Christmas
We decorated before Thanksgiving. It was fun and is still in progress. Christmas is a big deal in our household. And we have that new camera which makes picture-taking so much more fun!

Very Clever, Michael
After a good game of pictionary with my family last week, Michael drew a special little presentation for us. Everyone but me thought it was hilarious. I'm choosing to accept that as a flattery. If that's how my husband perceives me, then that's what is beautiful to him. This Mufasa-for-hair is happy.
Baby Coles
Lisa surprised Ashleigh and me with these little cards last Wednesday. Ash and I opened our cards at the same to time only to start screaming and jumping up and down. I burst into tears - which is really atypical. We cannot wait to meet you Baby Coles! The wee one is due July 7th! You better believe I'll be right there in the hospital when that child arrives.
After a trip to Walmart together, I purchased some rattle booties and Ash got her a blanket. We couldn't resist.
